Alternative, independent, involved in all that is new – new drama, new literature, contemporary art, top directors, young artists – this is what Theater 74 promotes and brings to the public. It was established five years ago in the Butchers' Bastion of the Fortress of Tîrgu-Mureș, a bastion that is now overflowing with beautiful stories of theatre and the world it defines. In time, Theater 74 became a brand in itself. Its acceptance and, furthermore, recognition went beyond the boundaries of its venue into the entire Romanian theatrical landscape. Thanks to its projects (“New drama”, “The Bastion Review”, “The Tower Literary Circle”, “Three Days” – the first short film of the “UNIDRAMA” Multimedia Center, “UNIDRAMA”, “The Fortress Conferences”), Theater 74 has acquired a public of its own during its five years”™ existence. Its participation in theatre festivals (the Arad Festival of Chamber and Underground Theater, The Festival of Impossible Theater, The Festival of Contemporary Utopia, The Workshop Festival – Baia Mare, The Iasi Face Euro Art Festival, The Contemporary Drama Festival of Brașov, The National Theater Festival, The Sibiu International Theater Festival), the performances of Theater 74 on the stages of Bucharest theaters (Odeon Theater, the National "I.L. Caragiale" Theater of Bucharest) and not only, are further proof that an independent, alternative theatre, born as a beautiful “madness”, was expected in Tîrgu-Mureș.
